I hope you have all been enjoying the long days of summer and that you are also excited about the start of another school year. School will begin this year on Tuesday, August 26th. This year marks my 12th year of teaching, eight of which I have spent teaching the second grade here at Hoven Elementary. I have previously taught in the areas of 6th grade Science and Social Studies and 7th grade Science and Reading as well as assisted as a certified aide for middle school special education. I plan to continue to teach according to state and district curriculum standards. Please feel free to stop in at any time to view curriculum, ask questions or simply to say, “Hello!” Visitors are always welcome! Some things to expect in second grade are weekly spelling tests, nightly reading assignments, challenging activities and FUN, FUN, FUN! Spelling lists will be sent home on Friday and students will be tested the following Friday. Lists will also be posted on my class website: follow the spelling link. When students are absent, please let me know in advance (if possible) and I will arrange work for your student before the absence. I am always available to help students complete work that they have missed or any particular assignment that they are struggling with. My top priority is your child! Again, welcome back to school!
